TNB Electricity Bill Estimator

Estimate a domestic electricity bill using TNB's current tariff structure. Results remain estimates because AFA and bill-specific adjustments can change.

Estimated Total Bill

RM48.83

kWh usedRM250.00
Energy chargeRM67.58
Capacity chargeRM11.38
Network chargeRM32.13
Retail chargeRM0.00
Energy Efficiency Incentive (rebate)RM62.25
Service tax (8%)RM0.00
AFA / adjustmentRM0.00
Total estimated billRM48.83

Formula Breakdown

  1. Energy charge = kWh x 27.03 sen (up to 1,500 kWh; excess at 37.03 sen)
  2. Capacity + Network = kWh x (4.55 + 12.85) sen
  3. Retail charge = RM10 if usage > 600 kWh, else RM0
  4. EEI rebate = tiered rebate (up to 25 sen/kWh) for usage <= 1,000 kWh
  5. Service tax = 8% on charges for usage above 600 kWh
  6. Total = Energy + Capacity + Network + Retail - EEI + Service tax + AFA

Assumptions

  • New TNB domestic tariff effective 1 July 2025 (component-based).
  • Energy 27.03 sen/kWh (up to 1,500 kWh) + Capacity 4.55 + Network 12.85 sen/kWh.
  • Retail charge RM10/month, waived for usage of 600 kWh or below.
  • Energy Efficiency Incentive: tiered rebate up to 25 sen/kWh for usage of 1,000 kWh or below.
  • Service tax 8% applies to consumption above 600 kWh.
  • AFA (fuel adjustment, up to +/-3 sen/kWh, revised monthly) is not included by default — enter it in the adjustment field.

Current domestic tariff structure

From 1 July 2025, Peninsular Malaysia's domestic tariff no longer uses the old five Tariff A blocks. Bills are built from energy, capacity, network and retail charges, then adjusted for the Energy Efficiency Incentive (EEI), AFA and applicable tax.

ComponentOfficial rate
Energy charge (up to 1,500 kWh)27.03 sen/kWh
Energy charge (above 1,500 kWh)37.03 sen/kWh
Capacity charge4.55 sen/kWh
Network charge12.85 sen/kWh
Retail chargeRM10/month

Retail charge and EEI

The RM10 retail charge is waived when monthly use is 600 kWh or below. EEI provides tiered incentives for more efficient use; the calculator applies it marginally across the usage bands.

AFA and service tax

AFA can be a surcharge or rebate and should be checked on the current bill. Service tax can apply above the prescribed domestic-usage threshold. Enter the adjustment shown on your bill when known.

Source and effective period

Component rates are referenced from the Energy Commission schedule for 1 July 2025 through 31 December 2027. KiraSmart last reviewed this on 17 July 2026.
