From 1 July 2025, Peninsular Malaysia's domestic tariff no longer uses the old five Tariff A blocks. Bills are built from energy, capacity, network and retail charges, then adjusted for the Energy Efficiency Incentive (EEI), AFA and applicable tax.
| Component | Official rate |
|---|---|
| Energy charge (up to 1,500 kWh) | 27.03 sen/kWh |
| Energy charge (above 1,500 kWh) | 37.03 sen/kWh |
| Capacity charge | 4.55 sen/kWh |
| Network charge | 12.85 sen/kWh |
| Retail charge | RM10/month |
The RM10 retail charge is waived when monthly use is 600 kWh or below. EEI provides tiered incentives for more efficient use; the calculator applies it marginally across the usage bands.
AFA can be a surcharge or rebate and should be checked on the current bill. Service tax can apply above the prescribed domestic-usage threshold. Enter the adjustment shown on your bill when known.
Component rates are referenced from the Energy Commission schedule for 1 July 2025 through 31 December 2027. KiraSmart last reviewed this on 17 July 2026.
