Assumptions

  • Ordinary Rate of Pay = monthly wages ÷ 26 (Employment Act 1955).
  • Hourly Rate of Pay = Ordinary Rate of Pay ÷ normal hours per day.
  • Normal-day overtime is paid at 1.5× the hourly rate.
  • Rest day: up to half the normal hours = ½ day's pay; more than half = 1 day's pay; hours beyond normal hours add 2.0× the hourly rate.
  • Public holiday: 2 days' ordinary pay for working the holiday, plus 3.0× the hourly rate for hours beyond normal hours.
  • Figures are based on basic wages only and exclude allowances, commissions and EPF/SOCSO deductions.
