Understanding the KWSP 3-Account EPF Structure

Effective May 2024, the Employees Provident Fund (KWSP) restructured member accounts to strengthen retirement adequacy while offering short-term financial flexibility. All monthly salary contributions are automatically split into three distinct accounts.

1. Akaun Persaraan (75%)

Formerly known as Account 1. This receives **75%** of your monthly contributions. Savings in this account are locked until you reach retirement age (55 or 60) to ensure a secure post-retirement fund.

2. Akaun Sejahtera (15%)

Formerly known as Account 2. This receives **15%** of your monthly contributions. Funds here can be accessed for housing, healthcare, and educational purposes before retirement.

3. Akaun Fleksibel (10%)

The newly added Account 3. This receives **10%** of your monthly contributions. It allows members to withdraw any amount (minimum RM50) at any time for short-term emergency cash needs.
